anyone alive
malmon i have just assumed you are the owner here (。•́︿•̀。)
puddles_suki Nah, @Steph is the owner~
As the great Porter Robinson once said, I'll be alive next year
I miss internet forums. The one I practically grew up on in the 00's is just as dead as this one, and it was a much larger website. I waited a long time to get on Discord and I was right to avoid it, because it is just like social media in the compulsiveness and impatience it can cause. Remember to archive these places and save the important parts, or someday it will vanish.
ashadowgirl Fingers crossed, hopefully we can bring em back :> So much of social media is theatrical or just memes, I want to actually get to know people if possible
ashadowgirl I find Discord to either be just as dead as the forums they replaced, or active to the point where it's impossible to keep up if you have anything else going on in your life.
Welcome back, @Biggest_Mike! Hope you're doing alright ^_^

malmon Agreed, each time I pop up on a server I get the "+999 Billions unread messages since last time". Maybe it's because I don't hang out much, if I came to chat more regularly they'd probably be cool real time forums.
ashadowgirl Forums were so cool. I feel what replaced them was more Reddit than Discord, or maybe it did for me since it needs less interactions. Kind of a shame, both are a very different vibe.
Dontmindme Yeah Reddit's a good point too. Used to spend quite a lot of time there until their change of leadership around a decade ago.
malmon I didn't remember about the change in leadership but yeah it got a surge in popularity and with that plus the voting system content quality kinda went down in non-niche subs. Do you have forums you still go to? I remember enjoying scrolling through BBS in uni even though they were way past their prime
Dontmindme Yeah, at some point Reddit was sold off and it was no longer managed by people who cared for its original intention of being just a website that made it convenient to create your own forum-like thing. Basically it became far more normified, and moderation got far more strict to the point where old inside jokes that were common place throughout the entire website would get you banned.
malmon Yup, at that point it happened to a lot of the forums I knew, even 4chan which was thought to be one of the most hellish forums got it's normie wave.
