Maybe you're right! Or something else that's better will come along. I want to remain optimistic for the future. It might take a while though.

I had an idea a little while ago to write a BBS server, but one that can take advantage of all the modern terminal features like image rendering, mouse support, responsive layouts, etc. It would maintain most of the conveniences that people have gotten used to with modern web platforms, but be off the web. Haven't really had the time to put into it though, unfortunately.
darpo discord servers suck, most people are mean or just ignore u all together even if its a small server
i like to use steam chat even if its rlly bad but then people just demands a discord 
puddles_suki Yeah I feel like a Discord only makes sense if you already know everyone beforehand, yet everyone's first instinct is to start a Discord to build communities. I forgot steam chat was a thing (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
Can't say I've had issues with people being mean... That's probably less down to it being Discord, and more just the community being shitty. Some people just don't like other people.
Being ignored is a pretty common thing though, I find. Again, it depends on the community, but it's more a problem with people in general than Discord, I think. Like, there are plenty of IRC servers that are just ghost towns. The main driver of that, I think, is the lack of purpose or cohesion in a community. Like, I'm in an ex-vtuber's Discord server, and the lack of actual community is blindingly obvious, because the chat's just completely dead until the v-tuber pops in every few months.
Yeah I don't know how that happens. I'm always scared to send a message in a Discord chat, but for some reason posting on here felt super easy and fun (so props!).
Well uuh euuummm, I'm like, the only oldish member who still shows up, so I'm kinda desperate for anyone to talk here, except the occasional bot trying to sell dick pills or some shit~
