E36_fiend Once man's "beyond repair" is another man's welding project. Worst case you can just rebuild the shell from scratch, or part it out.
The E36 is certainly refined in some ways more than others. Ride quality, for example, is immensely better in the E36 than my Volvo S40. The interior. however, certainly feels more... basic. I'm not sure about the price to quality ratio... Maybe before Covid that was true, but ever since their prices have been silly. My one was a complete fluke in terms of pricing: £6200 for a manual non-sunroof 328i with like, 58k miles on the clock. Normally they'd go for over £10k in that condition.
I really want to do my best to keep the dream alive. While maintenance so far hasn't really been that bad, considering its age, it's still an expensive hobby! I can probably think of at least £5k of stuff I still need/want to do to the car.
