Made a big pot of chili this weekend. Turned out great! I used the recipe from this video:

This guy is incredibly "American" 😃

God I haven't had chili in a while, even though I love it. Should look into it. Just something about how it isn't too bulky like chicken noodle soup but not just liquidy like tomato soup.

I found out that lychee taste kinda like lemon-scented surface cleaner when they start to turn

Pizza! And lo and behold, I feel like crap for it too. I swear, my thirties might be a few years off, but I'm feelin' older every day. xD

I bought a Chinese cookbook recently (Every Grain of Rice: Simple Chinese Home Cooking by Fuchisa Dunlop). The first recipe I tried out was "Tofu with Black-Bean-Sauce": Heat up a wok, add oil and into the sizzling hot oil you put dried chillis, Szechuan pepper and a special black bean paste. Once its fragrant, add ginger, garlic and the vegetables shortly after. Stir fry and then add sugar and soy sauce to taste and add the tofu. Finish with some spring onion greens.

Probably the tastiest fully vegan dish I've ever cooked!

mnl I've always struggled to make tofu properly. It always end up in one of three states:

        • Soft and boring
        • Burnt on the outside, soft on the inside
        • Crispy all the way through

Couldn't figure out how to get it crispy on the outside and soft on the inside v_v

malmon Haha, same here. In this recipie its not crispy at all because it's added only very late. It's more or less in it's uncooked state but it does not taste boring at all, because the black bean and chilli sauce packs an incredible flavour punch. For the recipe smoked and spiced tofu works best, because its firm texture makes it interesting to eat even uncooked/uncrispy.

Potato chips, with mayonnaise! It was surprisingly good. I can see why it's so popular on fries in the Netherlands.
