Les Parpluies de Cherbourg (1964) Jacques Demy - 7/10
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
I rather liked Demy's The Young Girls of Rochefort and this is similarly visually pleasing, though I found the cinematography a bit more stagy. It's a kind of an opera in the sense that every line is sung and they aren't structured like songs. Overall it's pretty good, but I guess I preferred the traditional musical numbers of Rochefort. Absolutely stellar opening credits sequence though, one of the best I've seen in some time.
