Who do you favor in Death Note? Light or L? Why?

I still cannot get over this anime series. It literally blew me away and I could not stop watching until i finished and refinished it. "Did you know death Gods like apples?" Hahaha

Alright my personal favorite is L. Just because of his weird gestures and behavior is extraordinary. I personally love this anime because it is unpredictable to first view watchers 🙂

Give me your feedback on this and who you would prefer and why. 🙂

Woah! It's been ages since I watched Death Note. Truly a masterpiece, mind-boggling plot twists, and very complicated yet wonderful storyline.

I guess it would be Yagami Light for me. For starters, he's just a typical student, from a typical family. But upon discovering that little black book, his life has turned 180 degrees. I admire his wit and his decision-making abilities. But then, all bad things must come to an end 🙁

So yeah, team Light for me because I always love underdogs. L on the other hand is equally amazing as well.

I liked Light up until season two... Then I sort of didn't give a shit about the series anymore.

He wasn't more intelligent, it's just that L found similarities in Light. He found his first real friend. He let up his guard whereas Light never did.

L was the one who in end out smarted Light. Yet he had to do it out of sacrifice. It was an awesome game between the two friends. I love how light had the goal to end criminality but in the end power can devour oneself. All in all I'm sure we can all agree this series is just genius to the point where everything took you by surprise and had you pulled. 🙂

I like Light more because I can sympathize with his desire to make the world a better place, even though it eventually corrupts his personality towards the end. It is interesting to see his gradual change in personality and ego and I wanted to see how his utopia will turn out. In the end though, he thinks of himself as a god and thinks that his judgment is the best. He also doesn't give a damn about his "friends" or family. This adds depth into his character and that is why I love his point of view. It is interesting that in the ending, you see the flashback of the time when he just picked up the death note and you can see how he transforms from a person who wants to change the world to a narcissistic god wannabe.

The damn apples were a symbol for something, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Maybe, it wasn't symbolic at all, and it had to do with the fact that the shinigami world harbored bitter, somewhat unpleasant fruit and shinigami prefer Earth's rich fruits. Yeah, that sounds familiar. But anyway, I'm on L's side. I'm always on the good side. I have to admit, Light was an admirable opponent. You CAN'T let your guard down around him; L should of known better. But he's human, a strange human, but human. Humans make mistakes even the genius/prodigies. And Light was human until he proclaimed he was God and bad crap went down. You just can't go around pretending to be God.

Nah but really Light was completely unsympathetic almost immediately out of the gate and L wasn't really developed much as a character beyond being a really cool detective. The only real winner is Matsuda.

No, he threw away this humanity for the sake of winning. L lost because he valued life of others, Light only valued his own life. That being said, I do favor L greatly. Because when L lost, he didn't weep or cry for help, he just accepted his loss. When Light lost to Near, he clung to Ryuuk's leg, begging him to save his sorry excuse for an existence, while being fully aware that Ryuuk would do no such thing and had even refused his help before. Light died begging for his life, losing to a child because he was so cocky. He didn't accept loss and was not only out-smarted, but proved that he nothing more than a child who cried because he didn't get his wit his way.

The ending of the anime was altered, in that he just runs away and is later killed by Ryuuk. In the manga however, Light never even gets out the door but rather sits on his knees, begging Ryuuk for help while he is just being laughed at as a response. The manga did a far better impression, as Light never was a person to survive and Ryuuk never cared for him, something the anime makes it seem like he does. (The author even states that Ryuuk never cared for Light, not even close to it.) Its very difficult to have respect for Light considering the fact that he only won because he was on the lucky side of the coin and even then he was a terrible loser when he first lost.

Hahahaha and yet here you are in my forum. Whether it is for starters or not. It was an awesome anime that blew my mind away and introduced me to the anime world. Without L and that death God, I would still be a lost soul searching for good entertainment. 😉

Is the manga that much of a better read? I have yet to read mangas but instead watch animes. I totally agree that ryuuk never cared the whole concept was like a game to them. Watching how the humans killed one another. Light had a vision for good at the start perhaps but got blind sided with power. Light and L both hate to lose but I have to agree L took his loss on the shoulder but with the knowledge that his last play was not over or in vain. 🙂

The manga portrays Ryuuk and Light's "companionship" far better than the anime, especially in the ending. The manga also has a extra chapter if you are interested in that, which takes place a few years after the death of Light. The biggest difference in the manga though, is the ending. If you have already watched the anime then I'd recommend that you at least go and read the ending of the manga.

I usually always read books before movies. But I havent applied this to anime and mangas. Also alot ofpeople have recommended that I get started on mangas. I plan on getting started on it.

I am not one of those that mean that you should only read manga, I do think that you should give it a try for series you really do like though.

I was rooting for Light at the start, but slowly turned to L, as Light started breaching on insanity. Really unfortunate, I wish they made an alternate Season 2 in which L survives and stuff happens differently. Idk. This anime completely twisted with my emotions, dude. I wanted Light to succeed, but I also wanted L to succeed, and I hated it when Light killed L. At that point, I was just like... ;~;

Well, there is that fan-theory that L started to gain romantic feelings for Light.. Would be interesting to see that part if he hadn't died.

My L would not and did not have romantic feelings for light. Lol there can only be one and that would be yours truely. Hahaha. Light became a total duche when he manipulated the one crazy girl who loved him that was on his level.
