Would you happen to recall what brand that was? I've been fond of Western Digital, but I'm curious what's most (and least)-reliable these days.
It was a 3TB Seagate - one of the least reliable drives of all time. It's honestly amazing that it survived as long as it did.
WD and HGST (which I think are now owned by Toshiba) are generally the most reliable, with WD red drives probably being the best out of the WDs. That being said, I think Seagate are a lot better than they used to be, and they certainly have some more interesting options in the higher (10+ TB) capacity range.
Nn, nnn! I was actually thinking of throwing some WD Reds in a cheap computer case, but I figured it was easier to just buy another My Book. I have a seedbox I use exclusively to stream anime from, and they work wonderfully.
On another note, I just got my first 144 Hz monitor a few days ago! And insofar, it's been great. I can't really run any games that high without turning down the graphics settings, but 100-120 is fine for my purposes. ^^
