well more like it's the lowest common deniminator which is just bad, but there we go
EDIT: it seems the trend these days is to put absolutely no effort into the beat/melody/instrumentation, and force everything into focussing on the vocals. Now, I fucking adore songs with weird, wacky or inspired vocals/vocal presentation but it seems pop songs neither have that, or any good instrumentation to make up the lack of it. So it's all down to lyrics. Which fucking suck too. GG modern music.
