Hmm, I'm not sure how it is in the US, but over here, insurance generally only covers theft, fire, or damage to other people's property :/ Even if my wing mirror was covered, I'd lose my no-claims bonus if I filed it.
My car does have an alarm (is there any car nowadays that doesn't? ^^'), but honestly, I don't think they're much of a deterrent, given how often you hear them going off for no reason.
I do also have a dashcam, but well, it only operates when the car's running, soooo... ^^'
