Approximately one week ago, I woke up to a house fire.

All told, we were very, very lucky, and nobody was hurt. However, the entire house is filled with smoke that hurts my lungs to breathe, and repairs will take months. Naturally, we've been forced to move out, and they don't say well return till July at the earliest.

That sounds absolutely terrifying, I'm glad to hear that nobody got hurt! It's seems like you are already looking forward, so I hope the repairs will proceed smoothly. Best of luck! 🙂

You know, I truly am amazed sometimes by my capacity for bad luck. One week prior to this mess, I had realized that a diet high in sodium was raising my blood pressure, giving me those migraines. And just as I'd assured myself things would get better, life threw me another curveball...

The lockdown times have convinced me for good, that having a healthy diet and excercising regularly are critical to ones physical and mental wellbeing. I'm slowly getting better on both fronts, although some weeks it's still a struggle. ^_^

I want this!

Clafoutis
Serves 4–6

INGREDIENTS
1 cup whole milk
3 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup all-purpose flour

PREPARATION

Preheat the oven to 325°F. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and butter until the sugar is dissolved. Add the flour and whisk until smooth. Pour the batter into a cast iron skillet or pie pan.
Now add your favorite fruit or flavoring (see below). Bake until the clafoutis is beautifully puffed and golden, 35–40 minutes. Serve immediately.

Clafoutis Variations:
Concord Grape Clafoutis: Once the batter is in the skillet, scatter 2 cups slightly crushed Concord or other black or red grapes on top.
Cherry Clafoutis: Scatter 2 cups pitted cherries onto the batter once it's poured into pie plates.
Pear Clafoutis with Pear Eau de Vie: Core 1 ripe pear and cut into pieces. Pour the batter into the skillet and top with the pear pieces. Bake. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons eau de vie.

I procrastinated for a whole 6 months , nice

I had no involvement whatsoever, but I was here for its arrival.

It arrived just as I had to go away for two days 😐

I should probably stop writing in every thread every time I come back and keep it to 1 or 2. Feels like I'm spamming.

Dontmindme it's okay! i do the same thing. as long as it's not some spammy super low effort posts, nobody's gonna think you're spamming.

I'm pretty happy with my financial situation right now. Around two years ago I started putting a small amout of money to the side every month and I've managed to built up a nice little financial safety net + some money that is invested in index funds (ETFs). While it's not a huge amount, it's also not too bad for university student standards and definitely a huge improvement from living paycheck to paycheck.

It's always good to have a few month's worth of emergency money! Those who don't are the ones who end up getting caught up in the cycle of short term loans and debt.

Got drenched a few days ago, leather wallet got very wet and stained some papers I had in it. Wondering if waterproof/water resistant wallet exist, it's not the first time my pants get wet and wet everything inside my pockets.
