I was in love with similar thread on my latest site, where was only two geeks, so I'm really glad to see the thread here.

What is your terminal font? If you use(-d) default Terminus you should try hack or tewi for small screen, because it doesn't seem pretty good on my full hd. Your desktop looks fine, but a bit default as you said. 
Lately I've replaced i3 with bspwm and I've changed my workspace. Bspwm has a clear config, he is faster and lightweight, but I'll miss for some i3's features. Here is my  screenshots:

My font is envypn. How do you like bspwm? I just switched to 3bwm from it. Figured I'd try something new

I don't like applications with static config, that I find ugly. 
Of course, bspwm has strange logic of binary tree, but he is more configurable than i3 so I wished to try it and now I'm glad when I see my transparent borders. :3 By the way I can install something like Wingo written in Go, but I have no reason and motivation to switch my current wm now. Eventually, there're not much difference between different tiling window managers in using.

Yeah that's why I switched to 3bwm. For the most part, once you've tried one tiling wm, you've used them all. Only thing that really changes is how windows are laid out. 2/3bwm is a floating wm. Though I do plan on making a tiling script for it. I do miss my tiling when the window amount gets excessive.

My desktop isn't too fancy, plain i3 with no desktop background. Here's my dotfiles.

What I tend to use instead of my desktop background is my chromium new tab page, which is here .

As far as terminals go, I use terminology, a strange terminal that has some fancy features. Here's a screenshot:

The font is Inconsolata patched for Powerline.

I have my i3 startup scripted to open all sorts of things and place them on the right workspaces and monitors when I open my PC, this means I always turn my PC off because there's next to no effort cost of turning it back on again.

One of the best tricks I've learned in i3 is to use chromium --app windows to place webapps such as discord and tweetdeck into borderless windows that works great with i3, especially as their X11 instance value is based on their URL, so they can be easily differentiated in the config.

I have a pretty nice vim config, imho. I use gvim a lot, but sometimes use vim on remote servers too. It's got some awesome completion from YouCompleteMe - when it works. Here's a screenshot:

I don't use XMPP, but you can contact me on several IRC networks as RX14.

Apart from this i'm not quite sure what else I can show you, but I'm sure i've forgotten something.

No, I haven't tried them, I think YCM works fine though.

Just created a love child program. chwb2 is a program included in wmutils optional programs, and is created by dcat and z3bra (wmutils as a whole). I have been wanting to use wmutils to have a better experience with WMs, rather just just customizing them. I also really like 3bwm. So, problem solved, combined 3bwms borders with chwb2.

Wmutils isn't a window manager though.

Besides, wmutils isn't pointless. It's a set of window manipulation utilities, and if put together in a specific manner, then it can be patched together into a window manager.

Well, I understand your motivation now. But, really, I have more interest in your other projects(at least Cocoascript seems interesting to me) than this fork, because I don't want to switch my current WM in the near future.

Back on BSPWM, couldn't stand floating. Though I did try it for a good 3 weeks at least. And because I loved 3 borders so much, I made BSPWM use 3 borders.

Also, I got sick of panels and bars, so completely removed them. Now my terminal has the time when I need it, and my borders show how much battery life I have. See spoiler below for all the colors (the more red, the less battery).
