I've been trying out the carnivore diet since Sunday in an attempt to sort out my IBS issues. Gotta say that on day 6, I'm feeling surprisingly good.
The first 3 days were hell, though. Zero energy while your body adjusts to ketosis, and pretty bad diarrhoea.
Now though, I feel pretty fine! Before, I'd always be bloated full of cramps after a meal. That seems to have gone. And I go to bed with a flat stomach.
Some of my IBS symptoms aren't 100% gone, but what can one expect after 6 days, after all?
There are big downsides though... pretty obvious ones too. Meat, good meat, is expensive. Meal costs have probably tripled at least for me. Also, eating nothing but meat and some dairy gets old, very fast. At least for me. While I'm glad that 70-80% of my IBS symptoms have gone, I'm left dreading meal times - especially lunch at work. Perhaps with more planning, I could've devised a more interesting meal plan, but I'm not sure how sustainable that would be either.
I think that from this Sunday, I'll start moving towards something more like a keto diet. Introducing some vegetables and nuts. If nothing else, it will hopefully make it more obvious what foods were giving me so much grief normally.
