I figured that sharing album downloads deserved it's own thread. So here it is! Currently, anyone can add an album they like, as long as it follows a few simple rules: The format is as follows: %artist% - %album% [%year%] [|Release Type|] [|Release Source| |the codec|] Additions must, at a minimum, be 128kbps mp3, and no higher than 16bit lossless flac (please don't submit 24bit lossless, just transcode it) Additions must also have a track list. This website has some tools to make this easy. The containing folder MUST be zipped or rar-d before being uploaded to whatever file sharing site you use. It is suggested, but not required, that you keep a back-up copy of the .zip or .rar in case the site you use goes down, so that you can reupload it quickly. Please keep bad transcodes to a minimum. The worst is when downloading a torrent with no RG - gotta make a completelately seperate copy in order to be able to seed and apply RG.

I think I've occasionally downloaded music from Bandcamp that already had RG. But yeah, it's pretty much down to whoever encodes the files.

Personally I'd leave replaygain off, and let people apply it manually. Replaygain has different loudness levels and algorithms, it's not as simple as "apply replaygain", there's some subjective configuration. So it's better to just leave it off and apply yourself.

There is a way to save this kind of metadata to a database instead of directly to the file in foobar2000, but I don't know if it also applies to replaygain.
