Elvis Presley - The Wonder of You

I would highly recommend the 2022 docudrama Elvis to anyone who doesn't know much about him. I never really cared much for him or his music - I sort of just had this assumption that he was another one of those stars who let the fame and fortune get to them, until he drugged himself to death.

The reality is quite the opposite, and perhaps even sadder. While he did love the fame, the most important things to him were his family, and his ability to perform. Unfortunately, he was taken advantage of by those he trusted. He put his all into every performance until the very end, and really deserves to be remembered for the man he was inside, not what he was turned into by those who conspired to squeeze every last dollar out of his brand.

I've been listening to nerdneko, mikgazer vol. 1, and 36g recently. Really good contributions to this planet and I appreciate each artist behind these projects dearly.

yandere mikgazer... To this day I'll regret passing up the opportunity to own that CD. Someday I will v_v

malmon I found out about mikgazer through a depressing post on this forum and it has since changed my music tastes & life although slightly. And recently I did make a 100k yen impulsive purchase to acquire the CD, which I did rip and provide to friends. I can also post it here if that's allowed. There's one listing left on mercari and it's an unopened one, but 140k yen iirc

yandere 100k yen?? Jesus Christ that's cheap. Haven't seen it for much lower than £1000 here. I can't see a mikgazer on mercari. Cheapest I can see rn is £976.98 for a used one on eBay, which won't include VAT or import duty. And I've been looking for years at this point >~<

I do already have a ripped copy from somewhere on the internet (posted it to https://lewd.sx/d/2564-music-share-thread/97), so I'm good for a lossless one. But it would just be nice to have the real thing v_v

yandere Oh cool! But man, that's still way too much for me... Sure, I do really want that CD, but I think that paying nearly £800 would make it feel more like a liability, and kinda ruin the experience.

malmon I see, yeah, if you were to ever get a chance to negotiate with someone who was thinking of selling theirs. How much would you offer them?

yandere Hmm, that's a difficult question to answer, as it's the sort of purchase that's driven more by heart than head. Meaning that it would depend a lot on my mood. If I wasn't currently in a belt tightening month, I'd consider anything below £300. In the right mood and with a decent savings buffer, probably anything below £400. The one I passed up all that time ago was little over £200 on Discogs. Little did I realise that would be the last one to ever show up there v_v. Anything around that would probably be an instant buy if in good condition.

But I guess that they must be selling to at least some extent at the prices they're at now, so I doubt I'll ever find one in a range I find sensible. I don't want to feel like the CD is a liability, or that just by playing it I'll be trashing its value.

malmon Understandable, I don't know what I'll do with my one now that I've ripped it. Kinda just a decoration, it means a lot to me don't get me wrong but again I worry about it being stolen, damaged, lost. You know what I mean.. felt the same when I owned the official lain plushie from like the early 2000s.

yandere Do you live in a particularly rough area? If it was me, I'd probably frame it ^^

yandere Well, I was more getting at, are break-ins common in your area? ^^'
