What kind of things in certain animes do you hate and detract from your experience in a show? What sorta things d'ya adore?

I hate;
Magical girls.
'Fat' on story (needless killing or drama in a vain attempt at being impactful).
Most Shounen.
Plucky underdog protagonist who's rough around the edges but has a good heart and hidden power.
'teh wurld suckz so i, deh antagoneest must deestroy deh wurld becuz flawed nihilism' (AKA; Flawed antagonist logic so they get to be edgy).
Power levels.
Plot-holes that are explained away with shallow reasoning (See; Junko from Dangan Ronpa).
Everyone wants to fuck the protagonist for no reason other than he is the protagonist (See; Akame ga Kill).

I love;
Gallows humor (Morbid/Dark scenes taken in a lighthearted manner, see Dark Comedy).
Guns.
(Semi-)Post-apocalyptic settings (See; Desert Punk).
Awkward romance (See; Oreimo).
Outlandish powers (See; Jojo's Bizarre Adventure).
Chekhov's Gun (See here.).
Slice of Life (See; Yuru Yuri).

My shitlist;
Akame ga Kill
KLK (After Nui's appearance)
Naruto
Bleach (After the Espada Arc)
Dragon Ball Series

My adored list;
Jormungand
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Death Parade
Little Witch Academia

Fun fact, I do eventually plan on reviewing games and anime on Lewd to a full-fledged degree, so this list also reflects what my opinions on chosen series' will be.

I hate it in harem anime and the guy is dense as fuck. Well, it's more of a love-hate. I also hate it when suddenly they're in school in one episode, then the next episode they're at a hotsprings or the beach. Pretty much jumping from 1 scene to the other immediately.

      Hate/love eh.

      HATE#

      • bishounens (all in all, they are all generic and spoiled pieces of shit that fujoshi for some reason adore)
      • dense-to-the-core protagonists
      • wimpy guys who can't help themselves, let alone anyone else (see above)
      • killing characters off for no reason
      • plot holes
      • open endings with no follow up to them
      • anime split in seasons ending in cliffhangers
      • cliffhangers overall
      • censorship where the anime revolves around ecchi/borderline situations
      • tsundere-like beings that are just pissed off all the time (not tsunderes, mind you)
      • cliches put for no reason other than 'they had succeeded so we can too'
      • tits defying laws of gravity
      • School Days-like protagonist

I'm fine with it if it's a day-to-day thing where each episode is independent and we can just assume it's the next day, again, like Yuru Yuri.

However, yeah, if there's some kind of 'superior' continuity that we're supposed to be hooked onto, this can throw all that shit outta balance. That wouldn't fly in, for example, Jormungand due to it's emphasis on story. But on something like Jojo? The way the show is presented and how they explain their arrival afterward anyways, I wouldn't have minded if they showed up in Cairo randomly on each next given episode (which is what happened). I mean, Jojo is freakin' great and I love it, but we can't make-believe: Jojo's story is pretty basic.

          I hate:

-Characters that are evil for the sake of being evil.
-Ass pulls (save for in JoJo)
          -Generic edgy characters
(I don't recall any particularly terrible anime I've watched, so I don't really know what else to add to this list :)

          Believable characters-

          Fun fight sequences-

Intricate (but fun) plots (like Baccano)-

          Colorful animation-

          Gray morality-

          Good plot twists-

          Psychological shows-

I'm sorry, but it's my unpopular opinion.

not gonna lie that anime was shitty...
            like there was no story
            just these girls kissing

            like y

            anyways, I hate

                Things I hate:

Harem anime where the main character never picks one. I don't mind Harem so long as there's some actual romace in it.
Massive plot twists that were entirely unexpected. Cough School Days Couch Danganronpa.
Slice of Life. I find it pointless. I like anime for the story, as you can't find most of the same themes in the west. It's too much like a sitcom.
Rushed series, where the timeline is fucked and underdeveloped. Deadman Wonderland, DanMachi, etc. Both ended way too soon.
12 episode series. I know it costs a fortune to produce anime, however, 12 episodes is not enough. I hate getting to know characters, their backstories, their personalities, just to have to start all over in 4 1/2 hours. I get attached to a series but by the time I start to enjoy a show, it's over.

                Things I like:
Underdog stories. Unlike OP, I enjoy series like Danmachi, Highschool DxD, Fafnir, etc.
Cross-status romances. I like it when princesses, idols, rich girls, or anything of that sort falls in love with the main character.
Yandere. If a series has a good yandere, I can overlook every single fault of the show.

I can't help but hate and love tsunderes. As much as the stereotype is overused, I can't help but laughing whenever I see one.

Good Yanderes are so rare though. I haven't seen a good one since, like, Monogatari I think.

Also, I just hate underdog stories because they generally involve the power of friendship or truly believing or some other random garbage. Why can't you get your ass beat, go buy a gun, then shoot the fucker who beat your ass? Willpower isn't the answer to everything and I'm far too cynical to let it slide in my shows.

That's why I liked Desert Punk. He was the underdog, then he gets a bigger gun. Logical fuckin' progression.

Upgrades his pack. It breaks. Repairs it.

Get my meaning? I'm a little attached to the practical side of things.

Only reason I let Jojo slide is because it's just 110% ridiculous in all the right ways. Hell, it's a Shounen and that should be an instant turn off for me, but I like it.

                      Hate:
                      School Days MC
                      Magical Girls
MC that uses friends power to become badass
MC that doesn't want a harem nor doesn't know what to do
                      MC that's a pussy

Finally. I thought I was the only one ever who hated the Magical Girl trope.

                          Hate:
Mecha - Robots often mean extremely boring political plots.

Bishounen - Hate the art style, it's usually the style seen on old school yaoi, Boy Love, or things typically targeted towards females. (maybe im not supposed to like it)

Bad art direction - You see this a lot in horror titles... it's like they are doing their own form of censorship by drawing everything like shit... Requium From teh Darkness  was trying to be dramatic or something, but what happened was low detailed pictures which were mostly black with animation that ran at the speed of a slideshow.
                           Loading Image

Excessive Nudity (what? Yes, really.) - Anime like Freezing, where tits just come out for no reason. It's dumb to do this while having a plot that takes itself so seriously. It doesn't fit. Where it does work: Highschool of the Dead

Intentually Cryptic Plot - Madoka Magicka's cryptic nature was uncontested until it was usurped by Yuri Kuma. Yuri Kuma takes the convolution to an entirely new level, and the only reason they do this is to be pretentiously "artistic."  Also, Soul Taker. That anime was SHIT! Arrrgh and Lain... LAAAIIINN!!!!

Chelsea liked Tatsumi because she just liked him, no mention of Mine in her monologue so that's doubtful.
Leone flirted with him before he joined Night Raid, so again, doubtful.
Plus, can anyone explain to me why the fuck Esdeath wanted to nail him? And her conflicting as fuck desire with her built character?

For the record... i HATED Akame. ZERO character growth, episode to episode personality shifts (for what littler personality they gave her), she was just a mess.

I mean, Akame ga Kill in it's entirety was just a travesty of writing, at least in the animuu.

                                    Mine liked Tatsumi because... Raisins.
Also, didn't the gay dude want in on him too?

How did I forget about Esdeath? I really liked her. I still think Leone was just kind of a slut. The gay dude .... it was mildly implied, but yeah.  Still, I'm one of the people you mentioned not being able to stand cause I really liked Akame Ga Kill.  I especially liked the way it ended because it was a realistic way that such a conflict could have turned out in real life.

For the record... i HATED Akame. ZERO character growth, episode to episode personality shifts (for what littler personality they gave her), she was just a mess.

I really tried to give Akame ga Kill a chance, but holy shit it was bad. I kept getting "I wanna be liek Claymore!" vibes.

I'm just a very harsh critic and put massive importance on story and anyone who tells me the story was nice is wrong.
It may be your opinion, but your opinion is wrong. If your anime makes me roll my eyes when I'm alone in my room more than twice an episode throughout the ENTIRE SERIES, then there's a problem. A big one. One I didn't even know existed.

Akame was the possible worst of the bunch, even the fans of the show apparently hated her. Hence the meme-ship AkamexMeat, I think.

Well, I eagerly await your in-depth review 😉

Honestly, I would say yes, but that'd require me to rewatch the whole thing since I can't risk misinformation if I review something.

                                    And FUCK. THAT. NOISE.

As much as I liked it, I wouldn't sit through 24 episodes again when I have a backlog of stuff i haven't seen.

but since you won't watch it again.... maybe you just forgot you liked it...
