Five Nights at Freddy's 4 - Trailer

Supposedly the last in the installment. Scott Cawthon really milked this franchise for all it's worth - 4 games within the last year? Guy sure knows how to monetize his hype.

Anyway, it takes place at a house - your home? My guess it's going to break the 4th wall (hur) and supposedly, the "player" in-game is being haunted by the animatronicsÂ after playing all three games. Doesn't look like the gameplay has changed much, but can you expect anything different from the franchise?

EDIT: As it turns out, the game was originally scheduled for an October 31st release, but Cawthon decided onÂ pushing the date forward to the series' one year anniversary - August 8th.

heh, "fourth"...see what you did there. Anyway the trailer makes it look like a 3D engine which could explain what's taking so long but, yeah. I mean, I don't really blame him for making another, he makes profit. Would you blame him?

I've always hated the game itself but the story intregued me at first, and so did the community... kind of. But now both have turned to shit. I'm going to go with the popular opinion and say that this series has turned into a cash grab.

I have an interesting background story to this game.

So the original character designs were created for the CHILDREN'sÂ game in this trailer. Â Everyone was so off-put about the character design, as it gave off that MurderÂ Chuck E Cheese vibe.
Well, the Dev pulled it from greenlight and went into massive depression. Â When he got over it, he decided to take all the feed back and make a new game. Â Now you know the rest of the story....

Also, this developer has been know to donate loads of money to charity and other game devs.... so he's actually pretty cool.

I... don't even know what to think about it. I didn't really like the games - just a few jumpscares here and there to make you feel good. What I liked about it all, though, was the premise. More precisely, the lore and the theories about it. It just had its magic. Three games, three new perspectives to look at the story, three times more theories and speculations.
And now the fourth game, no more lores, no more story, no more theories, just you, your house, and the jumpscares. All the hype anyone might have had about this game has died. Well, except for the diehard fans of the series - middle schoolers.

In case you haven't been paying attention to youtubers (as games such as this, called youtube fodder, are often played mainly by the youtubers cause 'it's more fun seeing someone laugh at glitches/get scared'), that's a rather popular thing these days. All it does is generally make you 'jump in fear' from a split-second pop-up in your face. Feeding on surprise elements, in other words.

So I just opened youtube, a random video on my home page greeted me with Markiplier's coverage of this one. Quick google, this game is already released. Somehow it has a 96% rating on Steam. The fanbase...
You know what, I'm gonna give it a look, or at least watch somebody else give it a look, since I'm already on-board to hell with the upcoming reviews.

I would mark it as helpful too, if you asked me. It just shows how terrible the fanbase is. But who the hell marked it as funny when the most I can squish out of myself after reading it is 'pathetic'?

I'm pretty sure at this point, if Scott Cawthon released a game completely unrelated in story and gameplay to the franchise and called it "Five Nights at Freddy's 5", the fanbase would still protect it, rate it "10/10 spoopy" on Steam,Â and draw the most absurd connections to it.
