If you think Skype not responding is dumb, Skype for Linux is still on version 4, un-updated for what could easily be years (I say could because I'm not too sure since I don't keep up with Skype anyways).
Microsoft is a dirty whore, only supporting themselves, like any big company would, but most people don't realize Microsoft is worse than most other companies, everything they do is solely for money and only money. That's why they don't support anything but Windows, they want more people to migrate to it, and the only exception to this is their latest project that is open-source and does some shit to convert pages to ASPX or whatever the fuck it does (I didn't put much reading into the official page, and it's been a while, so my memory is faded of it and its contents).
Edit: I am wrong about what the most recent project does, I am sure, but let me give you an example of how much of a whore Microsoft is, especially with their open source shit.
If you look on their open source directory, a list of their projects, it is extremely outdated, and the copyright date set at 2010.
