Saw a short snippet of some film from the 1950's, apparently of some workplace safety video from way back then, that actually featured my hometown. There was the iconic bridge that still spans the river, the golden dome of the county capital; all framed by the window of a diesel locomotive. What really captured me, however, was the rusty conductor leaning beside the windowsill, smoking a cig in the sweltering heat as he peered off into the distance. I thought to myself, "Damn. That person lived a full life, and likely passed away surrounded by his loved ones". I wished I could've known this person, those many years ago.
