For example this website! I have no idea it existed but it looks like it has a large community of interesting people. I wonder if there are more sites like this that are great but somewhat hidden?

There's one site that I came across real recently called Atomic Rockets. http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/ It's meant to be a resource for people wanting to write some harder science fiction and has lengthy entries on things such as the logistics of governing a galactic empire, FTL Telecommunication and time travel.

I use an app called Saiko but idk if it's well known or not

Seems kinda like what Matrix is trying to do. I like their privacy policy, though as always with closed source software, you can't be 100% sure what exactly it's doing.
