Anyone heard of Franz? In case ya haven't, it's pretty much a consolidated cross-platform messaging app that works with a vast array of services; ranging from Facebook to WhatsApp to Discord to even Steam.
It does this by essentially running a miniature web browser inside the app - one for each service - that links up to the service provider's API and allows you to log in as if you were using their web app. This means it never reads your messages, which is a boon to privacy-minded folk, and the app itself is extremely convenient regardless. By my mark, it's the last IM client you'll ever need.
Seems kinda like what Matrix is trying to do. I like their privacy policy, though as always with closed source software, you can't be 100% sure what exactly it's doing.
