Netflix To Reportedly Offer Offline Viewing Later This Year

Here’s how it could work: Netflix users would download a specific video while connected to Wi-Fi or data, and then watch the videos later with no connection needed. Comcast and Amazon already offer similar features, although the option is only available for a small portion of their material.

How awesome is this? This year doesn't even have long left! I just wish Crunchyroll would do this, especially with manga tbh 🙂

Not everyone always is connected though, or to be more precise - not everyone wants to use their data up. If I can theoretically download a movie, or TV show from my computer and then transfer it to my phone for offline viewing while I'm at school or something that would be amazing. Or just keep a downloaded season of a TV show for when the net goes out or something.

If I can theoretically download a movie, or TV show from my computer and then transfer it to my phone for offline viewing while I'm at school or something that would be amazing. You could always just torrent movies or series but where I live everything has WiFi, 90% of busses do and then the bus station and the college has multiple to connect to. Still not many people know how to torrent and its pretty simple if you could download from Netflix.

Not everyone wants to deal with the legality of torrenting. And while yes you can have 90% WiFi uptime, and yes my college campus has wifi networks, they aren't nearly good enough to stream movies or TV shows.

My college WiFi is pretty decent most of the time, good enough to stream anime in 720p.
