There is so much anime out there, and none of which are as both generic and ultimately creative as GATE. The show focuses around an Otaku who works for the Self-Defence Force (SDF) in Japan; out of nowhere a portal to another world emerges and a medieval army comes flooding in with dragons and what not. The primitive army is defeated in no time, and before long, Japan sends an expedition of troops into the GATE to explore the other world. Our main character is one of the troop leaders to be sent across the GATE and his name holds quite a lot of weight with the SDF. There are many wars, but ultimately it is a peace keeping mission, Japan is trying to create peace with this nation and the show is about trying to broker that peace with half of an empire that wishes for that to happen, but the leader and other half of that empire that does not.
