Okay so this has been bugging my brain for awhile. Conservatives alot of the times especially in this current presidential race have been preaching about "localized education" basically have education run on a community-state level ONLY no federal funding or influence at all. Now this makes absolutely no fucking sense to me. If every other community sets separate standards (particularly lower ones) wouldn't that make it harder for us as a country and disadvantage children for college? Also if the solution is oh our kids cannot learn this lets lower the standards then that doesn't really fix the issue of "educating" kids effectively and wastes tax dollars.
This is interesting because for colleges and universities they have to hold national accreditation for degrees to mean something basically for them to hold the value in industry and labor markets. I do understand colleges also have state run initiatives, standards and are overall managed and operated by state governments. But is essentially the quality of the coursework and degrees is great. The U.S has really good colleges (despite the cost). So WHY would we want to basically disconnect or decentralize our public school standards.
Other countries that kick america's ass in this field they all have national centralized education systems to an extent. Im not saying I want the federal government to run our schools 100% but im saying the curriculum the academic standards should be set by a national board in efforts to maintain quality and effective education.
What are your guys thoughts?
TOO LONG DIDN'T READ LOL
