Kiznaiver is an anime from Studio Trigger(Little Witch Academia, Kek la Kek) and directed by Hiroshi Kobayashi. It begins by showing a dystopian Japanese city with a little boy running through tunnels. The boy is told that he has to get his pain back while some sort of reaction happens turning his hair white. We go through a 12 year time skip and on the other side we see our little boy all grown up as Katsuhira Agata. The episode then goes on to depict Katsuhira's apathy toward the world. It is revealed that he cannot feel pain, he just allows others to step all over him, and other traits that make him an emotionless punching bag. We are then shown some scenes of our minor characters until we meet the chick that gets the plot rolling, Noriko Sonozaki. What happens next is a sprinkle of clique, some plot holes, and some "hey, wasn't there already a show like this?" Now the main concept is that there are a new batch of 7 Deadly Sins, and six of our already revealed characters represent them.(I can only assume that the seventh is the girl introducing the main plot.) These sins so far are, Cunning Normal, High and Mighty, Goody Two Shoes, Eccentric Head Case, Muscle-head Thug, and Imbecile. Noriko then explains that the city that they live in is an experimental one, where these six students will be put together, despite being polar opposites, and learn to coexist in order to achieve peace. There connection is through a chip(or something) put inside of them which distributes whatever pain one feels through the group. This is explained in the mantra Noriko closes with, "One for all, all for one"(They switch it up in the sub, I don't know if this relates to the plot or the Japanese are just morons.)
Now this sounds cool. And it was. Beautiful Trigger style animation throughout(even though some character designs seem a little recycled, Hajime Tenga), nice concept; but at the same time I feel "eh." One Seven Deadly Sins was only two years ago so immediately I just started comparing it to that, even though I never finished it :tehe:, two its just the first episode and the plot has a hole. One of the points of the project is that these students would not meet each other or get along, but two sets of the six we have seen already know each other to some extent. The glaring example being Katsuhira and Chidori being childhood friends :kys: .
Overall, it could be cool. When I first saw Trigger I was a tad hyped but that has definitely worn off. It looks cool but don'y expect anything as good as some of Triggers past works.
