Welcome to the first installment of MoMo's first impressions, a little review of an anime's first episode and how I think it went and if I think it is worth following. Of course I know that a first episode is not always the best gauge of a show but for those starring down the barrel of long series or a laundry list of currently airing shows I hope my input will give you an idea of how a show fairs.
First up is Bakoun!!. This is an anime from TMS Entertainment and directed by Junji Nishimura(Glasslip, some episodes of Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura) and is pretty fun to say the least. It revolves around the antics of Yume(who looks like the yuri spawn of Yui and Chiaka) and her pals in the motorcycle club. That's right kids; cute motorcycle girls, doing cute motorcycle things. Unlike Rideback however I doubt we will see much drama heavy plot going on. This show is just cute and funny. Most of the humor revolves around motorcycles, duh :yokoplz: , but I still found myself cheesing at the screen with my little to no knowledge of the mode of transportation. Characters along with the setting are nothing special, but seeing this new focus is a little refreshing. Humor so far is a little better than your run of the mill comedy but again, nothing to write your okaasan about. Of course the riding of the motorcycles is all CGI :sigh: so, there's the dying of the animation medium to consider as well. I am almost certain that I will drop it around episode 4 of the 12 episode series if nothing that great happens, but if you are a motorcycle fanatic, find the concept interesting, or find some of these screen caps funny- it won't hurt you to pick it up.
