When the first Disgaea game came out I loved it to death. I'd only experienced squad-based tactical RPGs via FF Tactics up to that point, and Disgaea's sense of humour more than drew me in. Loved Laharl and the gang. The second, too, was pretty awesome, and given the sheer amount of content I'm pretty sure I put in more hours than the first. Then the third came out...
... aaaaand I just kinda stopped.
I like Disgaea games. I really do. But I found after three iterations that they weren't really progressing. Some aspects of the game play had changed, sure, but not nearly enough. The stories were fun as well, but, again, not quite deep enough for me to want to see each new one. There are a few more Disgaea titles now - pretty sure they're up to at least 5, aren't they? - and I want to play one, as it's been a while. Is it worth it to get a new Disgaea, though, or am I better off just saving my money and replaying one I already own?
