Behind "Locked" Doors

One of my former classmates came out of nowhere one day and proclaimed to her friends that she doesn't lock her door. Ever. She said if anyone ever broke into her house, it would be easier to escape. Do you agree with her intentions?

Wouldn't they just walk through the door first? I'd imagine a criminal would watch his prey before attacking it/them. That's why I always have the door lock unless one of my family members are outside. When I go biking or hiking, I have it unlocked, but it'd only for a few minutes.

Chances are, if the criminal is talented enough to spy out your place before breaking in, then they are talented enough to break a lock when you aren't home. Locks exist to avoid random crimes, as most people who break into houses can break open or crack open locks.

I think it's a pretty dangerous move especially these days. Plus won't it be hard to make a run for the door if they come in that way. It would seem to me it would be kind of blocked off. Rather than trying to find it easy to run out the door, it's easier to have some sort of protection to stun them and then make a getaway. We always lock our doors here, never not a day we don't have them locked. Why give them the opportunity?

I am paranoid and spend 90% of my day behind a locked door. When I start becoming more successful I am generously hoping to cut it down to 70% of my day.

Its almost like saying please come in and rob my place etc. Being a woman with chilren in a mans world with high crime this is a no brainer. Lock your doors, upgrade on home security, have one or more ways to defend yourself as well as family. Have back up plans and try to make a easy escape route if ever needed. Better to be safe than sorry. I dont agree with a woman wanting a robber to rape them. Ever. Fantasies would probably have a really hot guy or a guy they know. But no woman ever welcomes rape if they seduce into it then its not rape to be consider. Rape meaning sexually assaulted by force against someones will.

Exactly this simple locks mean nothing if they have skills to break into house ._.
