Feelings on CGI

I fucking hate it. It used to be just mechs or just vehicles but now its just becoming more commonplace. Anime like Show by Rock that mix it or movies like Expelled from Paradise that just use it exclusively are just hard to watch for me. I think it looks bad and when superimposed on a 2D platform its just jarring to me. That being said I actually do like Sidonia no Kishi which is almost completely 3D because from the beginning it is part of the environment.

With the new Berserk anime coming I am just afraid of this trend changing from "Hand drawn anime with occasional CGI to CGI with occasional hand drawn animation."

I remember the time where animators actually took time to draw out the fight scenes in early mech anime. Now they drop it in 2d planes cuz they are lazy'af; it really takes away the feeling.

Now when it is used exclusively (and well) like arpeggio of blue steel, it can be amazing.

I would seriously stop anime if everything became CGI

Watching shows like Gunbusters or Gundam really make you appreciate what animators went through. Its what makes a movie like Redline so amazing. SEVEN YEARS OF ANIMATION :ahn: :ahn: :ahn: :ahn: :ahn: :ahn: :ahn: :ahn: .

I really don't like the trends of just cutting corners.

It was good because of how they used it. It wasn't that bulky CGI. What'd you think of that second season? I picked up the manga cause of it but the only hyped part was that last fight.

Personally I did not enjoy the second season. The Guana didn't have a big as role and Izana was painful to watch. The first season imo was spectacular and I could have easily watched all the episodes in one go...

Why Izana, I couldn't watch what they did to my poor Shizuka. What the fuck was that thing. It did have a slow feel to it though and I kinda forgot some main points of the first season (because I binged it in a night lol) so at times I had no clue what was going on. I don't like CGI much, either. It's okay if it's a tiny segment, but even so.. it just takes away from an anime, it usually doesn't do much to add to it. Also, realistic CGI like in the newer Tintin movie creeps me out.
