Ok so i dont mean to make it sound that all anime is in japanese but.. to the anime fanatics how much of other languages have you learned by just watching anime? Or am I just assuming and everyone just sticks to the subs?
You can't really learn the language just by watching anime. You can pick up certain words or phrases but attempting to learn the language as a whole through just anime would be ridiculously inefficient if not impossible to a certain degree.
Learning the language through another source then testing your knowledge through watching anime without subs could be viable though.

It will be really difficult to learn Japanese through anime, why?
Hahaha I though i would forever always be the one to need subs. Then again I love the animes but never wanted to learn the languages. But I dont like watching dubbed animes it kind of throws me off hearing a different voice from the original.
I used to study Japanese with a book I bought from a second hand store long time ago. It had some cassettes (that's how old it was) that I would listen to while sleeping every night, and that helped me with knowing some Japanese when I watched anime, but I could never say I could learn the actual Japanese language by watching it. I watch with subtitles anyways. But you can definitely pick up a few words, and even learn how to make a few sentences because of Anime.
Anime taught me poorly structured english and I now can't view my lingua franca in any other way

Because I always tear it on the weekend  hahahaha
Hahaha well I am not one of the people who can learn language while watching anime. Probably because I never really wanted to but just rely on subs. I can still enjoy watching. As long as it is not dubbed. I cant appreciate anime being dubbed its just weird for me.
I took japanese for a couple of years in highschool, so if anything it just refreshes my memory on it, rather than learning it solely from anime
@[deleted] would you say watching anime without having to use the subs is better way of watching or is it just the same? Is there any difference?
Anime/media in general is good for practice but if you're trying to learn something it's best to take a course or some shit
Fucking weeaboo
If you know Korean, you can learn Japanese by hearing as long as you pay attention. Their grammar structures are 90% same.
Well, Kanji is a bit of problem since Koreans don't use Hanja much in everyday purposes.

I still look at the subs instinctively, but i suppose it would just make it less effort? As in you wouldn't need to focus so hard on reading, you can tab out and still understand whats happening etc
I don't think it's possible to learn japanese by watching anime. I wish it's that easy bro 🙁
