Skateboarding requires more mental fortitude than most sports. The ability to trust yourself to do what you need to to not break a leg is huge. You've clearly never tried skating, so you shouldn't be judging it. Also it requires like, 2-3 * more physical exertion than Basketball.

Dude, I assure you I skate. I am not saying that skateboarding is less than any sport, I am saying that by calling it a sport you are demeaning it. Ask any old skater and they will tell you that skateboarding should have never gone down the path it did. As cheesy as it sounds skateboarding is in a way a lifestyle and by calling it a sport you are taking away the individuality and purpose of skating.
But if you really think skateboarding is about Gatorade commercials, big business capitalizing on it by selling it like its a style, and quitting because you'll never be as good as the guys at street league then that's fine. You are just kind of a fucking poser.
