Tell me about it. Back when I used to visit my uni's Anime Club, all they'd do was watch an OVA and riff on it with JoJo references. Like, I get that it's a great series and all, but come on.
Many people never really stop to think about WHY a show is GOOD, only whether they find it enjoyable or not.
TBF, I think there's a difference between a "good" show and an enjoyable one. For example, most Shounen action anime aren't particularly well-written, but attract a huge following because that's what their demographic finds enjoyable. Same goes for Love Live. On the flipside, Legend of the Galactic Heroes is regarded as an all-time classic, but I wouldn't enjoy it at this juncture, simply because I'm not in the mood for a serious political drama.
I also don't think I'd enjoy JoJo, albeit for different reasons. While I absolutely adore a show with a crafty protagonist that has to outfox his opponents, the manga is a mile and a half long, and with my schedule I'd have to dedicate an entire year (if not more) to catching up.
