Honestly, I'm not sure what to expect. Their last hit series, Oban Star Racers, was pretty great in its own right, but I'd rather Saya be handled by a studio with experience adapting Visual Novels. White Fox, the guys who made the Steins;Gate anime, immediately come to mind.
Haven't watched Oban Star Racers~ I should probably give it a try? I agree that an established (japanese) studio would be a safer bet for it to turn out well. But then again, I'm always excited about western studios/animators/directors breaking into the anime market.
Incidentally, have you guys seen the new Netflix anime Cannon Busters? I enjoyed it quite a bit. The director is an American living in Tokyo, the studio is Japanese.
