Don't. Get into something that makes you happy, something you enjoy the challenge of. My brother was in a very similar position as you, followed me into networking and found he did not enjoy it one bit. He re-evaluated himself and took a look at what might make him happy. He's now found a new study that is challenging, but also brings him enjoyment. Sure the money is good for networking, but I'd rather be happy making $30-40K/year then being stuck doing something I find insufferable. It's your life, do what you want with it and fuck the people that tell you otherwise.

I took a few programming classes my first semester and it made me want to rip my hair out. I had a job repairing laptops for a while that drove me insane and honestly made me hate my life. I'm a networking major now, and I do not know what I am doing. Last semester I studied and studied but nothing would ever stick. I am kind of ok with Cisco routers and such but I don't enjoy it. I find every aspect of it to be a pain. Everyone in my classes are years ahead of me. I'm so far behind and I can't even find any motivation for trying to catch back up.

I know this is going against everything in the world, and I probably will get a lot of hate for this but whatever. STEM isn't for me. I'm not going to force myself to learn things that don't interest me. I'd rather take my time and learn something that I will enjoy doing for the rest of my life. I am thinking about getting a degree in education, but I haven't decided yet. Why spend the rest of my life being unhappy?

I doubt you'll get any hate from the internet. Although I feel lewd is a bit STEM-skewed there's a lot of people here who aren't STEM. And that's normal, I really love listening to music, and I'm sure musicians appreciate the work programmers put into their DAWs.

Thanks, I appreciate it. One of my family members told me I'm wasting my time if I don't go into anything STEM, and he hangs around a bunch of people like that so I'm just really used to heading it. I have nothing wrong with STEM, of course. I just think everyone should do what makes them happy.

This was more two days ago than it is today, but I'm so thankful for the weather here some times. My afternoon class was cancelled and I have no more classes after that so I'm officially on Spring Break. It snowed 9 inches causing classes to be cancelled and the very next day it was 45-50 degrees and melted away. So happy.

For what it's worth, I've been on various small forums since like 2004 and this one moves about as fast as they ever have. It's just the nature of what a forum is like compared to a chan board or seomthing like that.
