The chilean empanada is different from the rest of the world. While a variation of the spanish one, consisting of just ground beef and onion, salt and pepper for the seasoning, the chilean can include half a boiled egg and olives and some spices such as chili powder or merkén (Chilean ground chili, spicy as fug), also it can be spiced with clove, garlic and rosemary.
Local recipes include pieces of sausages, raisins, a piece of chicken breast or leg and other stuff.
Also there's sweet cream and pear marmalade variations.
