Turned on the lights, now everything is peaceful and safe.
That's sleep paralysis. A very, very scary phenomenon happens as soon as you reach REM sleep phase (not always), where dreams typically occur. You can't have dreams without being completely still. Normally, when you dream, your body has to go into paralysis so you can't thrash around while you're dreaming and by the time you wake up from a dream, paralysis ends immediately.
However, sleep paralysis blurs a bit of reality and fantasy into focus temporarily, meaning you wake up but stuck in place, and the fear mechanism kicks into high gear. You won't die from it whatsoever because your mind's consciousness is aware of it and treats it as benign, but it can mess up your sanity if it persists, and is 100% preventable.
It could be a false awakening, a more frustrating, but very convincing alternative that completely blurs reality and fantasy for a short duration. You wake up to get ready for the day only to restart the cycle and find yourself suddenly back in bed. Again, it is nothing life threatening and 100% preventable, just your mind messing with you.
You can use your nightmares to conquer your fears and even as a launching pad to your dreams to your advantage.
When I woke up I didn't see anything from the dream and could move freely, but what I feared was exactly encountering them(the characters from the dream) since it was dark and the nightmare was enough to put me in alert mode, so in my mind I thought they might still be there.
I knew that logically it was impossible, but I wasn't thinking rationally during that short timespan after waking up.
A bit more detail about the nightmare
[spoiler]
It was a weird dream, I was in a sad world where nobody, except me, smiled or had any emotion, then I was invited to a secret organization that knew how to actually use emotions

Inside this organization, people apparently lived happily inside a beautiful land, but later I discovered their method to actually harnessing these emotions was based on violence against innocent people they randomly picked to fuel this power. I managed to flee from there and came back to the emotionless world.
I learned in the secret organization that clapping one's hands was enough to give people emotions temporarily, so I went to a crowded building and clapped my hands to try and give people there emotions, but after attaining them, they got mad and tried to get me(like zombies), then I woke up. Â

This night I actually had 2 nightmares, had one less vividly first before this one(already forgot it)
That said, it wasn't that bad and I wish to have more nightmares someday in the future since it was a nice change (though not very frequently, hopefully)
