I am going to miss my father's roommate, he is going back to see his family in Baltimore and occasionally will call back. Starting today onwards at 3PM EST due to the legal system here saying, "No more than two people can live in one residential property." His roommate's room next to mine will become my father's sleeping quarters, and my father's room becoming his own entertainment center. A bit disappointed to see his roommate leaving, but at least it was fun times for over four years.
The upsides to this change:
- It is much less cumbersome to carry groceries and less of a burden on using heat, electricity, water, and the A/C
- Dad and I will have much easier time sleeping on our own beds, at least for a few more years
- Dad can use the exercise bike much easier
- When the money starts flowing again albeit steady, my entertainment center downstairs should be big enough to have the new XBOX ONE console coming in by March
- Dad can clean up the messes much easier and quicker since his roommate tends to have trouble remembering
- The bathroom upstairs is much easier for Dad to make it and go back to his new room as he ages
The downsides to this change:
- My room's working desk is in need of a complete overhaul
- I have to keep my eye on my room door more often now his roommate is moving away, which means less time spent on the computer and more time either doing some creative, reading books, or going downstairs to finish my console games
- Privacy is going to be a total nightmare, particularly when trying to go to sleep, as he gets older
- It now becomes my responsibility to help him more often, since his roommate no longer contributes to helping him move things or find missing stuff around the apartment, and when he gets old enough that he starts having problems moving, seeing, and hearing, it becomes harder for me to enjoy myself but still trying my best caring for him
I'll still be around, but much less frequently than I used to. 🙂
