It took 90 minutes for my friends and I to finish the playable teaser for the upcoming Silent Hills. There's no combat, no mechanics outside of walking around and looking at things, and the entire experience takes place in one environment. It's a self-contained "game" that only needs a single hallway to scare the shit out of you.
How did this collection of mundane elements become so much scarier than most full-length horror games?

Have you guys heard of the new Silent Hills demo recently released on PS4? It's one of the best graphics I've seen in gaming hands down, which helps insanely with the immersion cast into this horror game. The game will be developed by Kojima Productions using the Fox Engine and is a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro, featuring actor Norman Reedus. The trailer is playable, and one of the most horrifying ones I've seen, and it's scaring the living poop out of everyone who tries it.
I highly suggest you play it for yourself if you've manage to have a PS4 right now, but if you can't, here's IGN's Walkthrough of the first part of gameplay:
