I've been using MPC-HC with CCCP for so long that I've forgoten that anything else existed. ^_^
What player do you use for playing your anime episodes?
Posts
Hate me but I use WMP because I actually like the pretty buttons at the bottom, and K-lite Mega (I know it includes MPC-HC BUT u.u)
EDIT:
oh yeah, and if I'm on linux, just regular mplayer
I recently discovered that it's incredibly easy to convert MKVs into a format the PS3 can stream so I've been messing around with that lately. Anime looks pretty good on a big TV.
MPC-HC with the Smooth Video Project running at 60FPS. Save some specialized hardware, a good TV, or a short clip interpolated in Twixtor, nothing else comes close. :3
WvrvWvlf wroteI'm a pleb supreme when it comes to this stuff, I just use mpv with the default configs like @[deleted]. Only becuase its easy to use. For anyone interested, mpv combines well with some software called youtube-dl. Which allows for you to type:
$ mpv {link to video}into your terminal of choice. to stream a video directly through mpv, its really useful!
When all it takes is adding --profile=opengl-hq to mpv then you really should bother!
mpv, it's so simple yet it has all what I need
Lokorfi wroteAny way to watch anime in 60 fps other than using SVP?
Use a TV that does frame interpolation. Or commission your favourite studio to produce their anime in 60fps, as opposed to 15 or whatever they normally use.
I download anime to a flash drive then watch on the media player of my PS4.

Hmmm, maybe I'll just shell out the money for SVP then. Some of the anime I watch I'd probably want to keep on the down low
I'd love for studios to start producing 60fps anime, though I've not heard of any that have attempted this before.
There is a free version, though you're stuck with only DirectShow-based players if you're using Windows. And wow, I didn't realise it got so expensive! (my name's in the credits
).
Of course, if you use Linux, then it's all free.
I find it strange that despite some studios turning to 3D animation to produce their anime, they still render it at a super low frame rate, and it always just looks awful. Normally in anime, they put frames in where they're necessary, such as for large or sudden movements, and camera pans. But in 3D animated anime, they don't bother with that, and it looks like you're playing a video game on an underpowered PC.

mpv has fairly good "dumb" interpolation, but svp is far better in some scenes (mostly panning). You absolutely do get artifacts with svp though.
MPC on Windows, mplayer on Linux. Whatever I feel works on Android.
Will stream on Kissanime when I'm lazy/want to watch something and not wait an hour for a single HD ep.
Used to watch it on MPV but these days I prefer streaming sites like 9anime and kissanime.
mpv all the way. I have never seen it fail to beautifully render blu-ray rips.
Loko wroteI've switched from SMPlayer from my last reply in 2015 to MPC-HC with no additional codecs. Wondering if I should slap something on it though.
Why not try the Smooth Video Project? Alternatively, CCCP will give you everything you could ask for. ^^
I am a filthy casual, I stream anime. Using phone + chromecast. Works for me.
