Hmm, I'm wondering how I should go about saving money... I'm also somewhat concerned that any money I save will be worthless if brexit goes ahead. Does anyone have any experience with these things? >_<
You'll be fine. The only thing keeping the pound from being worth more is being attached to the mistake the EU is
I'm not really sure what the American media says about the EU, but I really don't think it's right to call it a mistake. And the fact that it's mostly the right-wing elite that's constantly pushing for an end to the EU is rather telling.
The whole ordeal has already dragged the pound down to near parity with the euro.
Quote in the thread I replied in rather than in this one. And don't assume it's the media it's more of what the net says and what majority of the British want. I don't look at the news just bunch of negativity in it and wings telling people how to think
I replied here because it's a bit more on topic (we might have a politics thread somewhere, but I couldn't be bothered to find it >_>')
The net is just as bad, if not worse. Depending on where you go and who you listen to, you can get completely opposing information. What the majority voted for in 2016 is wildly different to what's on the table now (ignoring the fact that nobody actually knew what leaving the EU would mean - the referendum was extremely vague), and they were heavily influenced by campaigns later found to be breaking electoral law, by spending more money than they were allowed, and using targeted advertising (coughfacebookcoughcambridgeanalyticacough).
The current lot pushing for Brexit are politicians and others from very wealthy backgrounds who would heavily benefit from brexit by shorting the UK's economy. I had a similar discussion with another brexiteer a few days ago, and it all started making sense once they revealed that they get their wage paid in USD... The British economy going through the floor is basically a huge pay rise for those people.
The right-wing media in the UK has consistently managed to convince people to vote against their own interests. One typical line is that Corbyn/Labour (a centre-left party) will raise taxes, and take more of people's hard-earned money. But they conveniently omit the part that says that only top earners (definitely not s*n or dm readers) will actually be affected.
We now have a prorogued parliament that's led by the weakest government and prime minister in probably all of british history.
