Anyone else disgusted by the media's addiction to "Perseverance Porn"? You know what I mean, those feel-good stories which, if framed differently, illustrate how society has utterly failed the vast majority of people.
There is nothing "heroic" about having to work after surviving a car accident, or walking twenty-one miles to get there, or relying on charitable donations to not wither away and die from lack of healthcare. Fuck's sake.
Ah yes, like those stories about kids running lemonade stands to pay for their parents' cancer treatment or something.
Thats kinda how i feel about gofundme and stuff, its good to help and stuff, but really its just helping like one of countless others.
They only get any help in the first place because they just happend to have the most appealing story. It really shouldn't be down to charity to help people in these situations.
Like you feel good for helping, and you should, but really there are loads of people in that same situation that just are gonna go completely ignored.
