If you're using Linux, what distribution, and why? I'm currently using Debian on my server, and I'm trying out Elementary OS on my laptop. As a fan of Debian based stuff, Debian 9 is a pretty obvious choice for the server. As for the laptop, I saw EOS and noticed it was Ubuntu based, which in turn is debian based so I figured I'd give it a go. So far its extremely simple to use, and it looks nice out of the box, if there was a distribution I'd say could replace Windows for long time users, this is a solid option. Being basically just Ubuntu with a neato theme, its got plenty of support. I probably won't stick with it for too long though, I prefer mucking around with more basic variants when it comes to my home machines.

Xubuntu Trusty on my MBP 2011, Ubuntu 14.04 for all my servers.

Antergros on my custom build, second drive, as a backup os. Sick of my ssd dying and then having no os to fix it.

Linux mint cause im lazy. Use to really like arch a lot and used that. But like i said really lazy.

Both my laptop and Samba server are running Debian 8.2 Jessie I distro hop all the time but I usually end up back on debian. EOS was nice for the laptop but not quite what I was looking for. I haven't tried Arch yet but I'm sure I will sometime

Arch at home, Debian on the server. I like to follow elementary OS as well, so I have it on a spare partition.

I'm using Mint on my laptop to get the hang of it, but I might try to get Arch on it over winter break

I've already tried a lot of linux distro and my fav is Ubuntu. Why? Because it's easy to use. And Kali Linux is a great choice for any people include me who loves to learn the basic of hacking.

I use Arch Linux primarily and really love it.. Until it breaks once every 9 months. 🙁

I might switch to Gentoo so I don't have to worry about updates fucking something up as much, but I just like Arch Linux so much.. Yet I'm too lazy to always read the patch notes. ;_;

Why use Kali for everyday use? .-. .. It is a very specialized distro made for pentesting and security adhering. Even the developers themselves recommend people don't use it for everyday use. It basically has no default support for anything non-related to security. I mean.. I guess if you only want to learn and practice pentesting while browsing the internet then it works, but it just feels unnecessary when you can put it onto a USB and just use it whenever you need it and primary Debian or something.

I'm using Arch Linux, though I'm pretty much distro agnostic.

At the moment I'm using GNOME Shell but I'm pretty tired of its strange window management so I was thinking of dropping into Cinnamon or maybe even something lightweight like OpenBox (with tint2 is how I used to do that, and a bunch of scripts to automate window placement 😉).
