It's pretty much stretching it to claim that 90% of harem romcoms feature a "perverted"
character type (unless you're arguing that having a sex drive = perverted considering
that the most popular anime mc is the "dense" type.
And that they are. As dense as most of them are, after a while the anime usually takes a turn for the worse, focusing on the little amount the MCs require to have pervy thoughts or get aroused, which triggers more and more 'accidents'. They are all perverted because they can't keep their composure as any normal person would.
