Salutations. Im sorry to bring to your attention today that the chat service we've been using for a while now, Discord , has conflicting interest with our lewd.sx channel. What has been happening, is that the #nsfw channel conflicts with the TOS. And to most users distraught, there has been..forsay, "dislike" of the terms of service presented. Most notably, Hammer and Chisel included a clause, that states that every message we send, and the channels we own, belong to them to freely manipulate and share. Due to the global outcry, we have been considering yet another move of chat service. Unlike the first move, we shall give you, the community, a choice to pick where you want us to relocate to. A poll thread will be made, public and open to pick from the main contenders (IRC, back to slack, Tox, XMPP) and shall be open to add new suggestions to vote for. We really hope we can come to a conclusion that leaves everyone satisfied, so feel free to express any opinions you have on the subject in this thread, to me or to @Neko . Sorry for the inconvenience. EDIT: Poll has been attached, if this matters to you, please pick a service or request the addition of one to the poll. A reason why you selected such would be nice as feedback as well in the form of a post. This poll expires in a week from now, so choose wisely and quickly. RESULTS: And the results are in. ..t-two days in that is.. With a landslide victory, IRC has one the whole shebang, and therefore we shall continue work on our official lewd irc server. Sorry to anyone who voted other options and didnt get the outcome they wanted, but the majority gets what they want. How is the chat used? I tend to favor IRC, but I'm not sure what your needs are. What was the reason you left Slack?

Just make a channel on rizon or freenode. Skype is a botnet and I don't even use tox that much.

As for the skewing, I dont see how im fazing results. You either pick no, suggest one you want to be added to the poll, or pick an existing one..

Pun aside, I'm not familiar with IRC and would prefer Slack. I'm already part of a forum's chat there (HB Slack chat) and I like the app. I really wouldn't want skype, though; groups on Skype just have a tendency to die for me.

It's a web irc client. The point is that you don't have to download anything and can IRC from your browser.

Yeah, Mibbit let's you join IRC channels directly from the site. I find it a bit crappy compared to desktop clients tbh.

I say IRC just for the sake of simplicity. It's been tried and true, and if it's the same as I remember then there won't be images in the chat, so people will be more likely to post that content on the forums instead.

Otherwise I'd be fine with Slack if we are gonna go to a downloadable client again. Or whatever really, I trust our staff will make the best decision on this and I don't even know anything about the other options in this poll anyway (besides Skype, which I never use)

Quite frankly I find myself offended at the thought Discord believes they can claim
ownership of content that we post using their service, free or not.

Meaning, everyone who wants to use the multiple clients available for pc, mobile, linux, etc can use that, and everyone looking for an IRC experience can use that. A win win situation.

While I'm not on much at the moment, making an effort to be moreso now, when/if the change happens I'd prefer it over to IRC or Slack. Already forced to use every chat client going already though so I'm easy.

I certainly won't. I'm not going to the forum to create a post or thread just to post a single image. I want to post it somewhere where people can immediately give their opinion etc on said image. The forum isn't live so you can't get the reactions. It's just not the same.

Discord and Slack are very good options for me.

The forum seems to formal for a simple post of an image which is why I rarely post. I like my posts to be of high quality and not just a simple image.

The community limitations for Slack are pretty shit too;

can be forced into every channel
can't block or mute annoying people
no decent banning system

Why would you want to do that?

Well, there's some value in restricting a community like that. If you picked say, Skype, you'd get a different set of people participating than if you picked IRC, and I tend to think of the later as much more desirable. I wasn't totally serious though. I just like IRC. I've also been on IRC channels that were connected to Slack, and they are kind of awkward.
