Haruhi Suzumiya Thread

CrispyFriedMan

Let's have a Haruhi thread shall we? Post about all things Haruhi! Post pics, post porn if you want, ask questions, discuss the show, the books, the manga, the VAs, the spinoffs, whatever.

Who is your favorite character?
What's your favorite moment?

Anybody watch Yuki-chan? What did you think of it?

CrispyFriedMan

Oh yeah, does anyone here like the soundtrack to Haruhi? There's some really good music in this show. It's been compiled together in some "Unofficial Mega-Mixes"

Nice, thanks!

I'm wondering what you thought of the Yuki-chan miniseries? I only finished up to Episode 3 because it didn't really catch my interest in the way of Haruhi universe did.

I liked it, but bear in mind I went in to watch it because I'm a total Nagato-fag. I watched it both in sub and in dub, the dub by the way just ended today. It is very different from the show, alot of people couldn't get over the different style of character designs. I don't think it was a great show, but I certainly don't think that it was terrible either. I give it a 6/10, but again you should be aware that I'm a total Haruhi fanboy.

There's an OVA coming out on October 26th but I am unsure if Funimation will pick it up or not. Even if they don't then I'm sure someone will fansub it.

Didn't this show have a whole season that was literally the exact same episode over and over again because they were in some time loop bullshit?

/a/ had a field day when that happened. I really haven't viewed the anime's franchise the same since. Novels are still okay.

also i totally didn't watch all those episodes

Not going to lie, probably one of either the worst anime I've seen in a long ass time, or I just disliked it a shit ton. Was extremely disappointed, 1/10 will never watch again (I say this yet I've seen the movie twice).

The soundtrack was okay. I've heard better.

You uhm
I should warn you before you click that.
But, I won't say anything.
Just let your curiosity take you there.

Anyone else who just suffered through the series to get to the movie? I thoroughly enjoyed the movie but the anime itself was pretty shite in my opinion. But damn it, Haruhi's voice actress was fucking top notch, her voice tickled my ears in the most pleasurable of ways.

Aoz

I watched the entire series but not the movie.

I was in total love with HAruhi during season 1. I even bought 3 figures. Since it took like 5 fucking years for season 2, I just never ended up watching it. I was also all about Nagato. I wanted to watch her anime, but I feel I should watch Seaswon 2 of Haruhi first. I heard about the time loop thing. I'm actually looking forward to the way they handled it.

You should watch season 2, then the movie, then Yuki-chan if you want. If you're "all about Nagato" then you'll love the movie, seriously. I think the movie is in the top five of the greatest animated films of all time. The Endless Eight episodes were fun and interesting, the people who complain about them are dummies with no attention-span at all. 4chan HAAATED Yuki-chan, and to be fair, it's very different from the show. It's a completely different alternate universe, Nagato is 100% moe (wether that's good or bad is up to you) and Asakura is a completely different character. I liked it though.

What figurines did you get?

Nice, very nice. Does Haruhi really need that support in her armpit though?
sorry if dumb question, I don't know much about figurines.

Honestly no. she is so small and light that the feet pegs hold her nice enough
That Mikuru figure though.... she's top heavy. She needed more support than was provided. She was always falling over. I got sick of it.

That's funny. I don't know alot about figurines, but that seems odd to me.

It seems natural though, that Mikuru would be "top heavy" if you know what I mean.

You ought to give it a look, it concludes the series quite well.

Yuki is my favorite character. But I feel kind of bad, I completely forgot she got her own spin-off anime. Downloading that shit right now.

CrispyFriedMan

Has anyone tried out any books on the Yuki Nagato reading list?
I'd really like to try reading Hyperion soon, it seems interesting.
