Introduction! Aerosmith! Excitement?!
There are some series out there I'm not exactly sure what purpose they're supposed to serve. Himegoto is one of those. At one hand, it's short, funny and weird, at the other... it's short, funny and weird. 13 episodes 4 minutes each - that adds up to roughly 52 minutes of total air time. During those 52 minutes I actually laughed a fair bit, raised my brows more times than Nana jr raised his hard self and still found the time to wonder what in the world am I watching. Ladies and gentlemen, Himegoto!
Never judge a book by it's cover
The visual side of this production is on a rather high level, given how short it is. I managed to spot a few unintrusive frame errors, but overall, the animation quality is high, character designs are cute, chibifications aren't ugly and there's not much I could really punish. Candy visuals, mild comedy, cookies and some milk, pretty much sums it up well. Well, except for the fact the bulges really fought for the air time. And they were really carefully animated, as if they were the only reason this anime exists... or maybe they are?

Or who you gonna love by your lover
I must admit, the existence of opening and ending struck me as odd. And in a sense, it's all great. Having a nice melody to start and end an episode with was a good feeling, especially if I got to hear them every 4 minutes. Other than that, the voice actors did a good job covering the voices of crossdressers and the rest of the crew, and the melodies played in the background were soothing enough to keep me watching. Short paragraphs, I know, but I can't really find a strong reason to be picky.

Sayin' love put me wise to her love in disguise
The plot... doesn't exist. It's lost in the nether realm between the striped pants of Hime and his bulge. The remnants of it that power this series up, however, are all enough to keep it going. Arikawa Hime, a guy who was left indebted by his parents (I hate myself for it, but I have to - cough cough Hayate no Gotoku anyone? cough cough), has been forced to crossdress by... mafia? He then was recruited by the student council, who shouldered his debt in exchange for being the council's dog. The end. Seriously though, this setting allows for a lot of exhilariating, yet generic, scenes to pop up, which all feel rather fresh with the cross-dressing element. Sadly, the ending went a totally different way, with pushed 6-minute long unnecessary drama and felt rather awkward. That said, the show was rather enjoyable.

She had the body of a Venus, Lord imagine my surprise
I have to admit one thing. By the end of the show, I'm no longer sure if the Earth itself is round (or rather Oblate Spheroid, I got your backs nerds). Why? Because the cast of this anime is rather complicated to say the least. We have Arikawa Hime, our crossdresser, Arikawa Kaguya, his younger brother... also a crossdresser, 18-kin, the daughter of the headmaster, strangely into women/traps, Albertina II, the author of adult manga, Unko, literally 'shit', just being there... then there's No. 1, a girl crossdressing solely for the sake of Kaguya, Oda Mitsunaga, a trap from the executive thingy, Hiro, his girl- cough cross-dressing boyfriend in a maid uniform, and Tadokoro Yuuma, who's so insignificant to the series it's accented by his rare appearances. So many different levels of weird. And yet it was enjoyable!

That, that dude looks like a lady!
Overall, I can't believe I'm rating it so high. Maybe because it was so short it didn't give me cancer... or because it was truly enjoyable despite the controversies... at any rate, call me biased, I don't care, I can wholeheartedly say I enjoyed those 52 minutes.
