In the last few hours, recent media reports are coming in about a chain explosion in the dense area of port city Tianjin, China. Social media has been quick on the uptake, while news outlets are only recently coming in with reports about the explosions, casualties, etc. The explosion came about when a gas station explosion triggered another explosion near two oil tanks nearby, which in turn chained into a chemical warehouse close by; many people nearby the locations died instantly.
The damage so far is unspeakably high. Casualties range from the hundreds to estimated thousands just from the direct explosion itself, ranging from firefighters, police, and nearby specatators to people within the blast radius asleep in their own beds. People are already comparing the explosion to that of the Halifax disaster, or worse.
