Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is a spiritual successor to Dear Esther. It's a large open-world game that's story driven, having six unique characters that are attached to different environments. The game is currently only being released for the PS4, but a release for PC is rumored.

I hear so many mixed things about Dear Esther, but this looks so cool. I've been following it for a while.

Everyone's Gone To the Rapture looks like an absolutely beautiful game; it vaguely sucks that I'll have to wait for a PC release, but from the looks of it, it'll be well worth it.

I of course can't comment on EGTR yet; but based on Dear Esther, The Chinese Room have definitely nailed the storytelling in their games.
