Fancy that, I actually swashbuckled the new DOOM (2016) a few days back. I've gotta say, it's ten times better than I'd have expected, but what really steals the show is the FOSS Vulkan API they use. 200+ FPS on a mid-range GPU? That's what I'm talkin' about.

More games should really use Vulkan. It'd make cross-platform development so much simpler >.<

God, I really want this to be a thing.

I should really get around to finally playing Doom 4. I've had it for a whole year at this point. I more or less only use Linux at this point so the Vulkan API is pretty nice for me.

I'll also expand upon my previous post because of some other WADs I found that were pretty cool. There's one called Solace Dreams that has everything made out of voxels and as a result has a very unique look to it. Gameplay's also pretty neat in that it doesn't play much at all like Doom since you can't strafe for shit and gun play is limited. It has survival horror aspects but then the bosses are designed with the Soulsborne philosophy in mind. It also answered my previous wish where you can only save where cameras are located, Resident Evil style. It's a pretty cool package overall. Really shows just how far you can take the Doom engine. I couldn't get very far because of technical issues (make sure to use the GZ Doom that's bundled with it) but still found it enjoyable.

Another one's a shitpost and a half, simply called Doom Hack, but I've found that it also is genuinely fun to play with the changes that it's made. I'd have to recommend enabling always sprint if you play it.

    Which game tho?

Oh, sorry, I didn't get the flashing alert, we're on the new system. I'm playing one of those legendary games San Andreas again.

It seems you're back but I don't even know a thing or two about you as I'm only logged from year '17, are you a soldier from the field?

    Same for me.
You may have known me as "Miles". I don't know what you meant by the question tho. I used to speedrun, but now it takes too much time, and I don't see the point unless I'm going to get good.

I decided to try out the first Persona game with the idea being that I'd work my way up to the later ones if I liked it. The version I went with at first was the PS1 release and since I only vaguely remembered Glassmoon's mention of the English translation going into it so I was quite surprised to see that it had been given the Phoenix Wright treatment (what warm blooded American didn't go to a school with shoelockers or have a Shinto Shrine in their neighborhood). I checked out the PSP remake after hearing it was the definitive version of the game, not even counting the better localization, but I'm a bit torn on it. The load times and quality of life are much better but the presentation feels a bit lacking in places. They gave it a more anime-y look which doesn't quite fit the tone and definitely lessens some things. Philemon looked genuinely spooky in all of his PS1 FMV glory but looks blech in the newer cutscenes. Then again, everything about the newer cutscenes are pretty blech.

As for the gameplay itself I have some early concerns as party management has been fairly minimal and that's usually my biggest draw to turn based dungeon crawlers. Combat also got much less interesting when I realized SP is just refilled at the start of every battle.

Started playing Rocksmith because why not? It's pretty cool, I'm still shit at it but we'll see how it goes.

I've just purchased Yoku's Island Express, it's downloading at the moment. It looks super comfy and chill and is basically a metroidvania with a pinball mechanic?!

Well, I'm gonna get my blanket now and spend the rest of the evening cuddled into it on my couch playing Yoku's Island. Hopefully it's good!

Wow, Rocksmith looks pretty dope! So, it's basically Guitar Hero but with a real Guitar?

I'm disappointed it's not ultra speed running or something~

Ahh, Rimworld, the game where you can use a bloody Lee-Enfield rifle to shoot a hedgehog at point-blank range, chop it up, and mix it with human flesh to feed to prisoners.

    I love this game. ^_^

Since PS+ had The Last of Us Remastered this month, decided to start replaying again in preparation for TLOU 2.

It's a good thing that there's so much to do besides the main quest line! Hopefully yours doesn't get stuck at the peace council, as it occasionally does~

I decided to pick up Persona 5 since it was on sale for cheapo and I had played enough of Persona 1 to know what some quality of life improvements and polish would do. Enjoying it so far but I'm a bit disappointed that they nixed some of the things I liked about 1's combat in between it and 5. Combat formation and attack ranges being gone I'm actually miffed about as I thought they provided a nice amount of depth to turn based fights. I'm into the normal life segments but I also hope the dungeon crawling picks up more since I enjoyed how uninterrupted they were in 1.

I'm thinking about giving 1 a shot one of these days soon. I tried it in raw Japanese a while back but it felt too awkward without a controller on my emulator and I'm a noob for these kinds of games. I'd like to get back to it since I'm sure I'd love it.

I'm playing Touhou Shinreibyou ~ Ten Desires. If you animate a jiang shi you can control her you know....

I sure had my reservations about Terry when he was first announced but boy oh boy has he been fun to play. I think he might be my favorite of the DLC characters in Smash Ultimate so far.

So I've gotten AC Valhalla and Bugsnax and I also got Watch Dogs: Legion with my 3080 purchase, so I've kind of been alternating between the three. And yes, I do actually enjoy playing Bugsnax.
