Some of society's problems that concern you?

I can't believe the extent to which shortages are crippling the logistics infrastructure of our country... I wanted to order a Chromax kit for the NH-D15, and while I would've enjoyed next-day delivery just a week ago, I've now got to wait a whole week since everyone's in a panic to hoard crap. You know, we joked about Venezuelans not being able to buy toilet paper, but in an actual socialist country (not Venezuela) this wouldn't happen. -_-

Now there's talk of another global recession, all because of a virus with less than a quarter of a million cases. Cripes.

Wow~ Get a load of this one trying to inflate her post count!

You've been quite clearly spoiled by next-day delivery ^_^'

Though in general, I think that the more socialist countries *have* done a better job of containing the virus, but then again so have Japan and SK, so maybe it isn't all that?

The UK's approach has been really quite bizarre though. Such as telling people to not go out to pubs, restaurants, etc., but without forcing the shutdown of public places, causing them to lose money.

Really appreciate the apathy or dismissive attitudes of everyone who's willfully ignoring any warning to self-isolate.

    absolute pricks

Reading extensively on personality disorders lately (psychology is an interest of mine), I can't help but be disgusted by how America treats the mentally ill.

Like, I've done stupid stuff on mental breaks. Just last night, I stayed up till four because I was anxious as all hell. But then there's schizophrenia patients who stand in the middle of the road during rush hour, or borderline people who throw a punch in the heat of the moment, only to run like hell. Daily life must be a nightmare for some of these folks, but in the land of personal responsibility, they're really likely to end up in jail or homeless. Just thinking about it makes me wanna neck myself.

I found this a really interesting read. Brings some closure to those who who have a passing interest in this sort of stuff, given how the international media sort of just dropped the subject after a few weeks.

Nothing really concrete there, except for highlighting the complete ineptitude and/or corruption of Malaysian officials during the investigation, but it does aggregate all the relevant information that we have (well, until July 2019, but still), which would be enough to, in my mind, beyond reasonable doubt pin it on the captain.

Great read, thanks for sharing that. Indeed this article seems to establish the truth of what happened beyond reasonable doubt.

Well its pride month and the President apparently stripped away some kind of healthcare protections I had as a queer person so :^)

Not to mention how people are treating the protests about George Floyd's murder. That dipshit OneAngryGamer even made a "traitors to America" list which just put every big name corp or online personality that said Black Lives Matter and claimed ALL of them were causing and aiding the riots and looting, when several on his list even outright condemned that part of what's going on right now. Read the list if you want to lol. Some of my favorite parts were him saying BTS were "Femboys cosplaying male singers" and apparently Arianna Grande's other great crime was "wearing a miniskirt to a funeral".

Truly 2020 can't get any more ridiculous. God I hope I didn't jinx it.

As time goes on, BLM is gradually losing my support. I'm not American, but it seems like the movement started over there with good intentions. Since then, the name is just used as an excuse to label anything they don't agree with as "racist", to the point where the protests have managed to spread to the UK. I'm not saying that there's no racism in the UK, but they are definitely having to grasp at straws here.

He didn't actually list EVERY single one yet, not even close. As there's like millions of us on the planet that aren't even identified in a negative way. It would take even years of compiling all of humanity on the current subject matter. He didn't even list the very few places I visited yet, so I am not at that threshold of being batshit angry, not yet.

It doesn't have to be the lack of significant incidents regarding racism in your country, mate. Perhaps Your Majesty Queen Elizabeth II might have other important problems besides Brexit that weren't handled properly in the last few months, like the Prime Minister being a bit too confident of the COVID-19 goal.

Nah, it's definitely a race thing. COVID comes into the equation in the form of a disproportionately large number of ethnic minorities dying from it, but then it's still very much a race issue. The Queen hasn't really gotten involved at all though, as is convention.

To the people outside the US, in functioning countries, climate change should absolutely be your foremost worry.

As for Americans, both COVID and climate change are just two sides of the same d20: A tremendous number of Americans simply do not exist in the real world. The term "alternative facts" got thrown around a lot back then, but the word I've always preferred is "post-truth". They shun "experts", sometimes even using the term derogatorily, and look to either the charismatic and unqualified for advice on important issues.

With the advent of social media, this has caused conspiracies and misinformation to spread like wildfire, which is an unforeseen, though for the powerful across both parties, rather convenient consequence of constantly defunding public education.

This is exactly how Brexit happened though, so it's not something limited to just the US, unfortunately.

There's been another major hacking attempt not too long ago, this time on some of Reddit's subreddits with the intent to boost popularity for the coming elections in a matter of months. Also on the subject, a few LGBTQ terms have now been banned as they are now "homophobic slurs" and making it non-discussable which could result in bans but they said that memes related to it aren't taken away. Rooster Teeth turns out to be a corporation and not just some Youtuber, has fired some guy and let out some employees, is making creators' channels that makes content out of theirs hunted down, and is trying to be very inclusive in their content as possible. Some people said that they already canceled out of their premiums.

Similarly, on a game that me and @Backlash have been using for years now and I'm now the only active player on here still hanging on a little bit has also undergone a moratorium of its own that prohibits certain topics, even the slightest mention of it or use of it and raises the consent bar of such controversial content all the way up to 18+. Even going as far as to say that not only will it result in an instant D.O.S., they can call in the authorities if such severe actions have to be taken. This means, no such place as welcoming certain types of people in certain places that supports very young people caught in explicit situations anymore, and will hunt them down very aggressively in real-time than they used to. If we are still in that simulator game by now, we both should of just quietly leave that game and focus our interests elsewhere.

Because we're all stuck in this pandemic together, people are becoming either more creative or divergent in solving problems, societies and our economies are breaking down slowly, laws around the world are changing daily rather than taking weeks or months to take effect, sooner or later we might end up in the midst of another global moral revolution or close to it. Pandemics like this does not stop governments of all spheres from continuing to accuse one another, it increases overall crime rates, and the wealthiest of the 1% are taking advantage of it as more business centers get shut down.
