Luckily, total war is bad for commerce, so nukes likely won't play a role in a real-life apocalypse. Climate change is very, very troublesome however. The time for immediate action was... about twenty years ago, now. It's rather telling that this is an expert's best-case scenario for a world just four degrees warmer on average.

I wonder how that prediction about Antarctica would play out, given all the current international treaties that pretty much only allow settlement there for research purposes.

How triggered people get over politics. You can't even joke about politics without people getting upset sometimes. I see and hear complaints about "snowflakes" and how they get upset so easily, but just about anyone these days is pretty much a fucking snowflake with how easily triggered they are. You can't say anything bad about either side without it being made out as an attack against them or some stupid shit. Fuck, it's super frustrating. Too many cry babies in todays society.

according to the new foreign minister of my country, climate change doesn't exist and it's just a marxist plot to spread communism, good thing i gave up on this dump a long time ago

Methinks I'll move a bit north ... just a bit ... every decade.

This sounds like the whole EU Parliament issue about Article 13 is back on the spotlight and getting closer. I have to put this particular video up to see how serious this is becoming. EU citizens, this might be your last chance to deal with your representatives.

arrested for breaching US embargo against Iran which Canada also joined

don't think it'll contribute to starting a war that much

The EU can't make promises on whether their Article 13 will make it or reject it come tomorrow and that will be it, but the guy in charge agreed to let over 4 million petitions in since last time in July he didn't. Then, the other night, a large spillage of chocolate and a terrorist attack right near the very building EU Parliament is. This is just another typical bad day in their bloc, urrgh.

EDIT: The E.U. rescheduled their debate on agreeing on the "final language" draft to around January.

Anyone else disgusted by the media's addiction to "Perseverance Porn"? You know what I mean, those feel-good stories which, if framed differently, illustrate how society has utterly failed the vast majority of people.

There is nothing "heroic" about having to work after surviving a car accident, or walking twenty-one miles to get there, or relying on charitable donations to not wither away and die from lack of healthcare. Fuck's sake.

Ah yes, like those stories about kids running lemonade stands to pay for their parents' cancer treatment or something.

Thats kinda how i feel about gofundme and stuff, its good to help and stuff, but really its just helping like one of countless others.

They only get any help in the first place because they just happend to have the most appealing story. It really shouldn't be down to charity to help people in these situations.

Like you feel good for helping, and you should, but really there are loads of people in that same situation that just are gonna go completely ignored.

Im really concerned about how the Internet allows young people to develop really unhealthy attitudes and views on life. I mean obviously hate speech exists and weird fetishes are just part of life, but it seems like there are tons of communities online which are devoted to 'deviants' in some shape or form that encourage their members to disassociate with the rest of society and become less compassionate towards other people. Alt-right groups are probably the first ones that come to mind, but I think the problem is way more pervasive than just politics and probably affects all sorts of communities online.

You are (never) the only one worrying about something.

What's your life expectancy? I'd be about 40 now if my expected end of life was in 2060.

Fuck the Supreme Court. This is just step one in oppressing trans individuals in the United States.

Trans people are no longer allowed to serve in the military. Not that I was ever going to the join the military, but we're still losing our rights because of how we identify.

I'm with you there, it just doesn't make sense to me why they would rule in favor of it despite the backbone of it being based on something not true. I think it's more of an example of the discrimination of trans people rather than just something that will bring it.

I mean... I see why the discrimination itself is bad, and really shows how oppressive the US government can be, but not being able to serve in the military seems like a perk ^_^'
