Phone carriers: what do you recommend?

I currently have Verizon, and while I am happy with their coverage, I hate how much it costs and how much they limit usability. Soon I will be moving out and therefore I will have a lot of expenses to worry about, so I am trying to cut back on my phone bill.

In my phone plan, I need unlimited text, not a lot of minutes but at least 100, and I would like more than 2GB of data. What do you guys recommend?

If you were in the UK, I would recommend one of these plans from three:

Even has unlimited roaming, including data, for free.

Telia is the best carrier ever made.
They'll cut off your internet even if you have 10GB of data left.

I use Straight Talk, which is offered through Walmart.  5GB of 4g LTE (or, if you're like me, 3g) data a month (with unlimited talk and text) for $45usd + taxes (so about $48 a month) and you can bring your own phone.

Edit: I'd like to clarify that I prefer 3g since I don't do data-intensive things, and 3g kills battery less than 4g.

I'm currently on Three. They're pretty good, though coverage doesn't seem to be the best, and the unlimited roaming is in rather few countries.

Hmmn, I could have sworn they used to have more destinations. I blame brexit.

If you don't use too much data and such you could look at Ting

Been with AT&T and I've had less issues with it so far. Only problem was how messed up it was on Windows Phone, but you know.. Windows Phone.

Went to Verizon and found out that I was still on a contract plan which apparently they don't do anymore. So now I have a regular plan and it is a lot cheaper and I get more data. Thanks for the recommendations though, I will keep them in mind in the future.
